Blogtember Day 1

Starting simple and talking about my unideal start to this

Happy first day of September, which means the first day of this challenge. And already, we’re off to a great start (she tells herself as she is trying to write this an hour before midnight).

Seriously though. The way I had imagined the first day is a complete 180 from reality. I was supposed to wake up by 6-7 a.m., do my morning routine, go to my bagel shop for breakfast and coffee, and then spend at least an hour of just writing. I wanted to make sure the first post was done and published before I had to go move my car so that it was closer to my apartment.

Instead, what happened was that I woke up around 6 a.m., and I did the thing where I wanted to sleep an extra five minutes.

That extra five minutes became an extra five hours.

So at 11 a.m., I was semi-scrambling to get through my morning routine and make sure there was enough time to get my morning bagel and coffee, get my car, drive to the spot right in front of my building, and wait until 1 p.m. so that I was not ticketed for parking during the street cleaning hours.

“But Connie, you could have done it after you moved your car?”

Yes, but I had to do some work which involved relearning Python, Jupyter, and GraphQL. That took my entire afternoon until I had to leave to go to a few pole classes I signed up for. And of course this all would happen on the day I signed up for two back-to-back classes.

So I did not get back until 9:30 p.m. And after eating dinner, showering, and doing a little more work, here we are.

But we are here! And doing the thing! And that is the first step. A messy first step, yes. But still the first step of many.
