Hello World

New year, new goals, new everything

Hello world.

I’ve been daydreaming for a while now what I would write for my first post, and now that I am here writing it… my mind is drawing a blank. It’s annoying; this awkwardness is my least favorite part of writing. But we need to start somewhere. And if one of my goals is to write more, then I need to learn to get used to this uncomfortable feeling (again).

Who am I?

My name is Constantina, but I usually go by Connie. My MBTI is ISFP. My top three are Aquarius sun (I have an Aquarius stellium), Virgo moon, and Libra rising. My zodiac animal is a Water Rooster. I’m a native NYC-metro-area girlie of Greek descent. I consider Astoria, Queens, NY; Bergen County, NJ; and San Jose, CA (where I spent the past 7-ish years) home.

What is this?

This is my website. Not too long ago, my website was just a place to house my resume and point to my GitHub when I was actively searching for software engineering jobs. Since I have decided to pivot away from tech, I wanted this little digital space of mine to reflect more of who I am beyond a resume or a GitHub profile.

Where are you now?

If you mean location-wise, I’m back in the NYC metro area.

If you mean job-wise, I am currently doing a few different things, all in the realm of operations.

I’m also trying to start my own business.

When did you decide to pivot away from tech and start a blog?

I’ve been wanting to incorporate a blog here for a while, but with job hunting and balancing multiple part-time jobs, it was hard for me to find the mental capacity to migrate my previous website to Jekyll. After three years of trying to get back into software engineering after being laid off, I decided in Q4 of 2025 that it was time to throw in the towel. I took most of Q4 to rest and figure out what I wanted to put my energy into, and I came back to the idea of writing; as a practice, as a means of sharing myself to the world, and as professional receipts. I figured it was time to put in the energy needed to full send the blog migration and…yeah, here we are.

Why?

I used to write so much more throughout elementary, middle, high school, and college. It wasn’t until I finished my general requirements and the theater part of my computer science/theater double major that I stopped writing completely. It was not intentional; once all my classes became computer science classes, all I wrote was code. Soon, my classes became my job right after college for the next five years. Next thing I knew, when I found myself in the position to write something creatively, I STRUGGLED. Struggling to write creatively soon became struggling to write anything at all. And with generative AI coming into the picture, I found myself relying on it more in order to put my thoughts into coherent sentences.

And that was when I knew I needed to do something about that.

In full transparency, I will occasionally use AI to proofread for grammar and flow. But one of my goals for 2026 is to get to a point where I can trust myself enough with proofreading my own words. For example, when I was editing this, this is what I made sure to include in the prompt:

I have here my first blog post. I want you to proofread it, but I have some rules:

1. No full rewrites. Just tell me which parts to look over
2. You are allowed to help with grammatical fixes
3. You can give an honest opinion on the piece
4. NO REWRITES

I’m excited and scared to go on this journey here, but I know it will be worth it in the end. At the very least, even if nobody reads this, I will have at least gained back the ability to be my own wordsmith.
